Does anyone want a witch?

Since my last post, TG has been introduced to “Room on the Broom” which is one of the Julia Donaldson books…….his cousin mentioned it one evening when they came around, so we found it on Amazon and popped it on for him.

He was hooked, and has not looked back since…… Although he does watch and read some other things, Highway Rat, Zog etc, his favourite by far is “the witch”.

He knows the story off by heart (as do we) and regularly acts out different parts of the story. His favourite trick for a while was getting Pops to put him and all his friends/cuddly toys onto his broom (a plastic storage box) and get him to fly/carry him around the room. He would then “drop” his hat, bow, wand, and request to go down so he could find them. So entertaining but a bit heavy going on the arms!!

He won’t stop talking about her, regularly takes her to bed with him, and has a dedicated notebook with Witch drawings in it, which he calls the witch book. He even asked to take it into nursery one day to show his key worker.

Tonight whilst reading books, he complained because I’d sat on the witch’s cake, and so asked me to move over!

As much as I live his enthusiasm for the new book, which has sparked a whole new interest in reading and drawing, it does get a bit much when he says ” hide, the witch is there” pointing at me when Pops brings him down in the mornings!

He’s continuing to love living his life, and is a breath of fresh air after a long day at work. Sometimes he’s more like a gale force wind, but one way or another he manages to put a smile on my face.

He’s starting to pick up a lot of Welsh words now and asks what certain things are in Welsh, which I think is great. So far, the witch’s grin, the witch’s hat and the witch’s cat are within his vocabulary!! 🙈

If anyone is thinking about introducing their little ones to said witch, thinking that she will distract said little one whilst you pop the kettle on or pop to the loo, then yes she comes highly recommended. Just be forewarned, she may become a permanent resident!!
