Pasg Hapus i bawb……. Happy Easter everyone!

We’ve had such a lovely Easter weekend, and as I start writing this post, it’s still not over yet…..woohoo for 4 day weekends!

We started off with a traditional bank holiday trip to the garden centre to find some new plants, followed by the farm shop (or the butchers shop as TG calls it).

He ate his body weight in free samples and sausage rolls before a quick pit stop at Nains and then a trip to Asda to get him some new clothes……the shark shorts were a definite hit!!

He’s been very touchy with his clothes lately, wanting to wear joggers and nothing but joggers, so getting him into shorts has felt like such a small victory!

We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the house and garden with his newly purchased bubble wand (50p bargain!) and a family BBQ…..alfresco dining at it’s best 😁

Yesterday was a completely different scene as we had a get together with friends, their children and dog, some of whom TG has never met.

He spent all afternoon and evening in their garden, chasing around, sometimes with the other children and sometimes in a little world of his own bless him.

There were so many shouts of “careful” and “stop that” from the various parents that it got quite comical at one point, but after another BBQ and full bellies all around (I love BBQ season!) things slightly relaxed and we had a good old catch up whilst they ran themselves ragged.

Childhood memories at their best.

What’s better than playing the egg and spoon race and wrestling along with some chocolate cake and strawberries.

A tired little guy went to bed very happy last night, but seemed to bond best with the one boy he met for the first time yesterday and will no doubt be mentioning him for a little while. He still mentions “Alexander” who he met at the swimming pool about 2 months ago!

It was a really great day, and lovely to see the kids playing together……they’re finally at the right ages where we can sort of leave them to themselves a little bit, meaning we can have a catch up as well. The older ones can help a little bit with the younger ones, and even the younger ones sort of play together now!

Today we took him to Raglan Farm Park with his Nana and Bampy, a place we’ve been to before but not in a little while.

He was so excited bless him……he takes so much joy in almost everything he does at the moment, and just soaks up information like a sponge.

As much as he loves watching TV or his tablet, whenever he can he loves to get out and about, whether it’s the park or the canal path or the garden. His love of animals and the want to learn things about them is just brilliant and I love watching his mind question all the things he sees and does.

Our first stop was the lambing shed as they’d just had a couple of newborns, and he was so interested…. he pointed out things that we probably wouldn’t notice, like the fact that the black lamb (which was massive!) looked like a cow, which it did.

After feeding the goats and the donkeys, there was more alfresco dining, which involved TG eating not one but two eggs! They were hard boiled and he didn’t have the yolks but fingers crossed this wasn’t a one off. We might be able to get him to cook eggs and eat them, rather than him cook them and make us eat them!

A cross country go kart ride with Pops was a great hit, as was the trampoline, which adults are no longer allowed on (sob!)

I can’t remember why we went back to the lambing shed, but soooooo glad we did as we were just in time to see a first time Ewe give birth to a pretty hefty sized lamb!

TG didn’t really know what was going on, and he paid a lot of attention to the hay which he was standing in, but thankfully it all went ok so we didn’t need to avert his eyes.

In a way it was good that there had to be some intervention as we got a bit more information about the lambing process……we had just missed one when we arrived, so it was great to be able to see the real thing.

It’s really stupid as he’s barely 3 yet but I’m also so glad that TG was there, even if he doesn’t remember it.

I really want him to grow up with a love for animals and nature and the countryside, and to know that eggs come from chickens and bacon comes from a pig.

He wasn’t phased by any of it though and was quite happy to get back to Gretel and Winnie who we’d left with Ziggy dog for safe keeping.

After playing “storms” in the garden at Nana and Bampys we headed back home with a tired but happy little guy.
